M J Painting Contractor Corp., a leader in commercial and industrial painting, is celebrating a remarkable milestone – 54 years in business. Founded June 1, 1970, the company has grown from a local contractor to a national operation with a strong commitment to quality, integrity and community.
We started small, focusing on commercial and industrial projects in Olean, New York.
Over the years, our dedication to quality work and customer trust led to steady growth.
We expanded our services to include the oil and natural gas industry, establishing a presence in 14 states.
Today, M J Painting proudly spotlights a second location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, catering to the Marcellus-Utica Shale Region.
Where it all began – our very first commercial project in 1970
We value the opportunity to invest in the future. We have consistently expanded our headquarters in Olean, acquiring land for new buildings including a paint and sandblast shop. Additionally, we recently purchased land and completed brownfield cleanup for further development, aiming to create a larger paint shop, fleet maintenance center, storage yard and offices.
We’ve been busy expanding into other avenues as well, diversifying our services as we see needs arise. Our recent divisions and expansions reflect the reputation we’ve earned within our familiar industries and beyond:
- MJP Energy Services: This dedicated division brings together our proven expertise in blasting, coating and painting with a focus on delivering reliable and efficient solutions specifically tailored for the energy sector. Our service offerings include oil and natural gas pipeline coating, right of way maintenance, station facility maintenance painting, station facility flooring, renewable infrastructure coatings and in-shop blasting and coating for specialty projects.
- Right of Way Maintenance: While performing our existing coating services on pipeline rights of way, we recognized an unmistakable client need for reliable maintenance in these large swaths of land. We decided to leverage our existing capabilities, add an elite fleet of machinery and implement our detailed reporting system to deliver a comprehensive solution.
- Signature Concrete Floor Coatings: Drawing on our five decades of experience in the painting and coating industry, we saw a natural opportunity to expand into flooring. This division brings our expertise in quality and customer service to the residential, commercial and industrial flooring market. We offer beautiful and long-lasting concrete floor coating solutions, ensuring the same level of quality M J Painting is known for. This expansion allows us to cater to a wider range of clients while maintaining our core commitment to exceptional service.

Martin Memorial Scholarship, Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Olean General Hospital Foundation, among many others.
