Without these organizations and the volunteers who keep them running, our surrounding communities would suffer. The YMCA is a beacon of hope and wellness, providing essential programs and services to individuals and families in need. From after-school programs for children to fitness classes for seniors, the YMCA promotes healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. “Since 1886, the YMCA of the Twin Tiers has served families of the Southern Tier in countless ways, including swim lessons, camp, teen nights, adult fitness, childcare, health and wellness programs and so much more.”
Southern Tier Wounded Warrior Project
Supporting wounded veterans and their families, the Southern Tier Wounded Warrior Project Benefit Concert was started by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Patrick Miller, a native of Allegany, NY, in 2017 “after being shot in a domestic terrorism incident at Fort Hood, Texas, that killed 13 and left 33 injured” [source]. Each year since, Miller returns to put on the “concert of the summer.” The Homes For Our Troops Foundation and Western New York Heroes, the Fisher House, where his family stayed while he was hospitalized, and St. Bonaventure University Veterans Services were the recipients of the proceeds from the 2023 benefit.
Frank A. Martin Memorial Scholarship
“Established in memory of Frank A. Martin III, a longtime teacher and coach at Allegany-Limestone Central School, this scholarship is for graduating Allegany-Limestone Central School seniors planning to attend a 4- or 2-year college who participated in any sport and demonstrates strong community service.”
Supporting this scholarship underscores our commitment to investing in the future of the community, particularly in education and youth development.
OGH Auxiliary and Olean General Hospital
These institutions are pillars of healthcare in the community, providing essential medical services, compassionate care and support to individuals and families in times of need. By supporting the OGH Auxiliary and Olean General Hospital, we’re proud to directly contribute to the health and well-being of our community.
As a hub for community service and philanthropy, the Olean Rotary Club plays a pivotal role in addressing local needs, supporting education and fostering economic development. By supporting the Rotary Club, we invest in initiatives that strengthen the fabric of our community.
Alzheimer’s disease affects millions of individuals and families worldwide, making research, support services and advocacy critical in the fight against this devastating illness. By donating to the Alzheimer’s Association, we join the fight to end Alzheimer’s and improve the lives of those affected by the disease.
The Colt 45 Foundation’s mission is to “support pediatric cancer warriors and their families physically, emotionally and financially; to raise awareness, and to provide hope and optimism.” In 2021, ten year old Colt was diagnosed with leukemia, AML. After aggressive treatment at Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., a bone marrow transplant, transferring to Roswell Park and long term stays at the Ronald McDonald House, Colt eventually went into remission and transitioned back to enjoying school and competing on the swim team. In February 2023, Colt relapsed and began treatment inpatient with a warrior mindset and endless optimism. “This 501c3 embodies what we love about Colt45: kind and caring, while also strong and determined.”
The Allegany Engine Company is a volunteer fire department that serves the Allegany community by providing fire protection, emergency medical services and disaster response. Composed of dedicated volunteers, the company works tirelessly to safeguard the lives and property of residents. They rely on donations and community support to maintain their operations and equipment, making contributions crucial for their continued service to the community.
Youth Sports
In addition to these notable charities, we also support various youth sports organizations and fundraisers such as Allegany Little League, recognizing the importance of fostering a healthy and vibrant community for future generations.
